Our class pet is a gerbil named Shadow. We adopted him from Ms. O'Sullivan's Kindergarten Class. He is the "dad" of their new set of baby gerbils. We like when he runs around our class in his yellow ball. He loves to chew on paper towel rolls! Many students have taken him home during the year to care for him during the weekends. 
On Thursday, May 31, 2006 I discovered our class pet gerbil, Shadow died in his sleep. He lived for almost 3 years. This is old in gerbil years. I called my students to let them know what happened. We will miss Shadow so much! He was fun, active, and very friendly. He loved paper towel tubes to play and chew on. He loved to make tissue boxes his home! We miss you, Shadow!!!
